‘Puffs’ Coming to the ECC Stage This Spring

By Ruthie Cordia, Staff Writer

Have you heard of Harry Potter? Rather you have heard of it or not I guarantee you will enjoy Puffs. As told by the Director Grace Austin, “Puffs is about the 7 years that a famous boy wizard spent at a famous school of magic…but it’s really the story of a group of people there who haven’t had their stories fully told..the Puffs! The story follows the students of the Puffs (as well as ‘The Braves”, “The Smarts” and “The Snakes’’) as we journey through those 7 years that everyone knows- but you don’t know the story of The Puffs!”

For the show they will be casting about 25 performers of all genders. Auditions will be held on Monday, January 3 and Tuesday, January 4 at 6:30 PM. The theatre department is looking for performers who work together well as a group and who love the stage. That can be people who know the original story or just people who are interested in learning more about theatre.

The play is also in need of about 10 dedicated crew members. They will happily work with you if you have never done it before. To be a part of the crew for Puffs, you can email Bess Moynihan our Technical Director at bess.moynihan@eastcentral.edu. You can also stop by the theatre and introduce yourself at any time!

The performance times are February 24, 25 and 26 at 7:30pm and February 27 at 2pm.

Grace says that she LOVES directing ensemble based shows because there is such magic in creating an entire world with a group of dedicated crew and performers. I can’t wait to dive into such a familiar story with such a different twist! Her favorite part of Puffs is the ending. She doesn’t want to spoil it but claims it is a great, heartfelt moment.
