Being a college student can be stressful. Early morning classes, the cost of those classes, books, balancing classes, homework, a job and a social life. It can be overwhelming even at the easiest of times. It can be easy to feel like you are doing all of this on your own but, local businesses are trying to ease some of the burden, if even by just saving a few dollars on a meal.
From getting food to bowling, a haircut to an oil change, Union area businesses are looking out for students that may be looking to save a little money and have a little food and fun in the process.
Several businesses offer a discount for their food or services. Planet Sub, Scoops N More/Belvia’s Blooms, Big Boys, Taco Bell, Subway, Junie Moon, Pasta House and Snap Fitness offer a 10 percent discount and Sonic Drive-In offers a 25 percent discount to ECC students who present their student ID.
Several other businesses offer a student special for those that present their student ID. Johnny’s offers a half price appetizer with the purchase of an entree while Oasis Lanes offers half price Cosmic Bowling and two games and a pair of shoes for $3 Monday through Friday. Great Clips offers $2.00 off a haircut and 20 percent off hair products while Wildcats Donuts will give you a free glazed donut with your purchase and Hardee’s will give you a free combo upgrade. Imo’s Pizza offers 2 free drinks with the purchase of a large pizza and if you are looking to get your oil changed, Auto Care Express offers $13 off an oil change.
It may seem like a small gesture from the community but, after several months in school, saving any amount of money is helpful. The businesses in our community are showing students that getting your education isn’t a struggle that you should carry all on your own. From needing to eat, to socializing, to fixing the wear and tear on your car, the local community is extending a helping hand to make sure you succeed.
