After lying dormant for over a year, the ECC Anime Club has returned at the start of the Spring 2018 semester, with its first meeting taking place on Jan. 25.
The club is led by President Izzabella Rucker, Vice President Brianna Summers, Secretary Nicholas Rost and Treasurer Bobbi Francis.
“I think it [deciding to revive the club] was partially [because] I really enjoy anime,” Rucker said. “I also wanted to try a similar but different way of having the college Anime Club work, compared to my high school’s anime club.”
Although the club has only recently formed, the Anime Club officers have hit the ground running with plans for the semester.
“I’m wanting to do a 5k walk/run for the Humane Society,” Rucker said. “I’m hoping to do the 5k in May, and also a bake sale in March or April. There are also plans to work concession stands for future theatre productions.”
The club also plans to have a presence at Falcon Fest on April 3.
“We have a few ideas [of what we’re going to do], which are to remain confidential to Anime Club for now, but we welcome more ideas,” Rucker said.
Anime Club holds biweekly meetings on Mondays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the DSSC café.
