According to Andrew W.K.’s political webpage, www.thepartyparty.us, his party, the Party Party, is simple in its mission: To free the American people from the dysfunc- tion that is our two party systems. He goes on to explain how partisan politics has created an “insurmountable di- vide” that has separated people into either the Republican or Democratic Party. Andrew W.K. truly believes that at the end of the day we all want the same thing: reliable ac- cess to education, healthcare, and a sense of social equality.

After that you may be wondering were do I sign up? If you visit Andrew W.K.’s political webpage, you will be almost immediately directed to sign an online petition to notify the Secretary of State that you want the Party Party to join the race.

A quote from Andrew W.K. lies in bold red face font before the petition stating, “We must protect and respect each other, no matter how hard it feels. No matter how wrong someone else may seem to us, they are still human. No matter how bad someone may appear, they are truly no worse than us. “

This quote almost had me motivated to press the link leading to the online petition, but I began to think. I began to think firstly about how possible this all was. Andrew W.K, most famous for songs such as Party Hard, Party Party Party, Party Til You Puke, and Long Live e Party is now attempting to run for President? I personally love Andrew W.K. not only for his music, but his almost constant words of wisdom received daily via my Facebook and Twitter newsfeed, but how well this translate into the presidential election?

“We must protect and respect each other, no matter how hard it feels. No matter how wrong someone else may seem to us, they are still human. No matter how bad someone may appear, they are truly no worse than us.”

I also began to think how easily a campaign like this could generate voter apathy. I have personally heard that a lot of people are refusing to vote because there is not one single candidate they want to see as President. is has already created a huge decline in votes. On top of that we now have a pretty influential musician launching a campaign that promises to eliminate the two party system, something many people are in favor of. Andrew W.K. also supports positive partying and the daily consumption of pizza, two things I for one love. It makes me wonder how in influential something like this is in giving people another reason not to participate in the primaries, or the upcoming election.

I may be overthinking things and I truly hope Andrew W.K. isn’t leading people away candidates actually nearing victory. I hope this is all a harmless act that was truly created to make a difference. is difference may not be made in the next election, but I’m curious to see what the future holds for Andrew W.K.’s Party Party.
