SGA discusses upcoming events and communication between student clubs

ECC Students discussed a potential way to communicate between clubs across campus during the Oct. 23 Student Government Association (SGA) meeting. 

SGA President Caleb Gunn asked club representatives at the student body meeting about a way for clubs and SGA to collaborate. The discussion led to a potential use for the student body to use Discord for communication between clubs. SGA plans on discussing the use of Discord for clubs at their next cabinet meeting. 

In other business,

SGA mentioned hosting a costume contest from 12:30 to 2 pm on Oct. 29. The judging criteria for the costumes include accuracy, craftsmanship, and creativity. The top three winners will receive money from Visa giftcards. First place will receive $50, second place will receive $25, and third place will receive $10. 

Communication professor Shanee Haynes, PhD, brought into discussion inviting ECC students to come to Civic and Community Engagement Coalition meetings (CCE). She hopes to have more student voices represented in the coalition’s monthly meetings.Haynes is the chair of the CCE and the coalition is made up of subcommittees. The coalition meets every fourth Friday of the month at 10 am and they meet over Zoom. The next SGA student body meeting will be held on Nov. 6 at 2:30 pm in DSSC 103.
