Long before Dorothy dropped in from Kansas, two unlikely friends changed the world of Oz forever… now, they are back to cast a spell on the big screen. Wicked takes center stage, directed by John M. Chu, taking a deep dive into the origins of two of the most popular characters in the franchise. The Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba played by (Cynthia Erivo), and Glinda the Good Witch played by (Ariana Grande) with both attending Shiz University, Elphaba faces prejudice and alienation from classmates, and peers from the very start, where she then meets and befriends Glinda where they find the truth, of the not so mystical and magical world of Oz.

One of the most indisputable supremacies with this film, would have to be the magnificent performances made by the two protagonists Cynthia Erivo, and Ariana Grande’s portrayal of Elphaba, and Glinda both these ladies nailed down the raw rendition of both these beloved characters from the musical, and it showed. Cynthia’s marvelous feats when expressing Elphaba’s more emotional. and vulnerable side shine on through. As for Ariana, showing Glinda’s charming and bubbly side, while also giving way to her more humanistic and empathic side as well.

The musical numbers did not disappoint either, with iconic songs like “Popular” and “What is this feeling” and “Dancing Through Life” and with most notably. Cynthia’s performance “Defying Gravity” gained widespread acclaim as a masterpiece and appealed to Elphaba’s more passionate side. You can feel in her vocals, where she performed the scene live whilst being hung in the air, you can feel the empowerment in her vocals, and the message being made through the song as well.

Accolades from critics the movie was rated on IMBD a, 7.5/10 stars with one hundred and fifty-seven thousand votes. Along with that Wicked won two Oscars this year, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design, with the film being nominated for 10 categories. Wicked won a total of hundred and seventeen awards, out of the three hundred and seven nominations total.

Final Verdict, Wicked’s conveyances was audibly, and visually breathtaking with its emotionally, stunning adaptation of the story of Oz’s two favorite witches. Glinda, and Elphaba’s superlative performance. With both actors being able to integrate these characters’ personalities flawlessly on the big screen, which makes for a magical viewing experience that fans of all ages can enjoy.
