East Central Baseball is swinging into a new era for the upcoming 2025 season. Falcons first year head Coach Luke Miller is excited for the upcoming season and ready to build a good culture at ECC.
The Falcons are going to start the 2025 season with a new head coach but with some familiar faces. Former Falcons head coach JM Kelly bolted out west to take a job at Dodge City Community College. This lead to the Falcons hiring Coach Miller and he has been in the process of getting his recruits and getting acclimated with the team. It will be tough for Coach Miller to try and follow up the success of last year’s Falcons squad which made it to Regionals.
Miller’s team will have to face some challenging foes within the Missouri Community College Athletic Association (MCCAC). One team that really sticks out to the team and that’s been the team to beat is North Central College in Trenton, Mo. They always are owning the conference and teams are having to attack that standard. Coach Miller does have a few returning players from last year and picked up a few transfers.
Sophomore Jack Holubowski transferred in from Mizzou to come and play for Coach Miller this season. He hopes to put up good numbers this year and have a large impact on the team. Holubowski is a Chesterfield native and had Coach Miller as one of his youth coaches during high school. Holubowski enjoys playing baseball because of the friends that one can make quickly.
Sophomore Matis Crouwel was a player that was originally going to follow Coach Kelly to Dodge City but he transferred back to ECC for this season. Crouwel said,”Dodge City wasn’t the place for me, I wanted to be and East Central always had a feeling for me to go back”. It’s not very often when a player enters the transfer portal and leaves for a different team and then comes back. Crouwel hopes to finish his Junior College baseball career at East Central and then after ECC go get a Bachelor’s degree.
The Falcons will take the mound this Spring with some enthusiasm and excitement with a new head coach. There will be some players from last year and then new players from what Coach Miller wants to hope to accomplish. Falcons Baseball has something to look forward to this year.
