ECC’s Student Government Association (SGA) hosted a meeting on Jan. 30, 2025 in the Diversity Student Equity Lounge (DSEC), aka DSSC 103. Clubs representatives from Engineering Club, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), ECC Christian Club, and ECC Student Media met.

PTK and SGA are continuing to work on the DSEC. The DSEC space will hopefully become a place for students to meet and where they can reserve a room. There’s a QR code outside DSSC 103 to reserve a room for club meetings and other student get togethers.

ECC Student Life and Leadership will be partnering with the Dive to put on the Student Involvement Fair for this semester. It will take place Wednesday, Feb. 6 on the first floor of the Donald Shook Center and the event will last from 11 am to 2 pm. Club sponsors and officers are encouraged to get a table by contacting Andy Klingensmith.

ECC’s Theatre Department will be putting on Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. ECC Theatre Department head Grace Austin is looking for ushers for the production when it goes from Feb. 20 to the 24th. They are in need of eight ushers per night and the ushers will be provided with free tickets for the show. The Engineering club will be partnering to help sell popcorn during the play.

ECC will have a Winter Photo contest open to all students that will run until Feb. 28 for submissions. The contest consists of four categories: Campus, Nature and Landscape, Pets and Animals, and Personal portraits.

ECC is partnering with EITC Community Coalition to help students whose families incomes are 67,000 or below with free tax prep. This organization will meet Mondays in the Business Industrial Center and an appointment is needed.

Student Government is putting on another campus event called Puzzles, Pizza, and Pop that will take place on Feb. 26. Only 10 teams will be able to compete and they will have to create a 300 piece puzzle, eat a one topping pizza, and drink a liter of pop of their choice. Sign ups are open and filling up quickly.

The next SGA Student Body meeting will be Feb. 27 in the SDEC at 2 pm.
