“She Kills Monsters” is a play By Qui Nguyen which made its debut in 2011. Nguyne wrote the play in a way that allowed for diversity where anyone could play the characters. The play tells the story of Agnes Evans, who after finding her sister’s module for D&D embarks on a journey to get to know her sister. The East Central College Theatre department will be performing the play from Oct. 5 – 8. The play is directed by Grace Austin. Fight choreography is by Erik Kuhn. It is rated PG-13 with a running time of 90 minutes–more information can be found at http://ecctheatre.com/ .
This play is a tale of adventure, love and dragons. So, if you like Dungeons and Dragons then this is the play for you. And if you are not familiar with the roleplaying game, don’t worry this play has something for everyone. The show is going to be set in the round; this means that the audience will sit on all four sides of the stage. It is going to be an immersive and interactive theater experience. You will be taken on the journey of self discovery with people who aren’t sure where they are going and you will travel with them on this adventure as they are finding their way.
I contacted the director Grace Austin about the play.
She said, “You do not have to be an expert in Dungeons and Dragons to enjoy the show; there is so much humor and kindness and laughter and joy in the thrill ride that everyone can relate to! The show is not like anything we have ever produced before. We have 26 performers playing a variety of characters plus a wonderful fight choreographer, and an entire army of behind-the-scenes artists that are making this show come to life.”
